Johann-Ulrich Burri, Swiss, Weisslingen 1802- Zurich 1870, pair of watercolors on paper. Signed lower right J. Ulr. Burri pinxit (painted by J. Uhl. Burri). Most probably executed around 1835. Set in a matt with gold metal borders encased in a contemporary frame.

Typical of the work of the artist with subtle hues of bright colors. Burri was most active between 1824 and 1846. During this period he exhibited frequently Swiss landscapes and views of Vienna and its surroundings, generally executed in watercolor. His works are in numerous Swiss and Austrian collections in particular, such as the Zurich Library.

Fine. No evidence of past or present damage or restoration.

Fine. A small horizontal tear was patched probably over a hundred years ago in the very low center, close to the edge, and is entirely invisible.
